Wearing these protective masks is never comfortable, you have to put up with it in order to prevent worse things from happening. But it is especially annoying on hot summer days. You can imagine very practically what it means when you feel the proverbial hot breath of someone on the back of your neck. The pupils, who had to keep their mouth and nose covered in their place for the whole day of class, suffered particularly from the masks. That is why it should be a real act of liberation for young people that they can now sit on their chair in the classroom without a mask. At least as long as the incidence stays below 25.
This currently seems to be the case, but politicians are warning – with good reason, if you look at some European countries – of the so-called delta variant of the corona virus. This is spreading rapidly despite the increasing number of those vaccinated and it is becoming apparent that after the holiday season the pandemic will continue to shape everyday life in the classrooms and also in the daycare rooms. There is even a risk of the masks returning if no other precautions are taken. It is only appropriate that the city should now deal intensively with the question of whether mobile air filters should not be installed in schools and day-care centers.
So far, the Munich health authorities have refused. Too complicated to handle and maintain, too uncertain success, so the tenor. But Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD) has now asked his administration to review this attitude. In addition, there is now almost simultaneously an advance by the Free State, which is now calling for mobile air filters in all Bavarian classrooms and daycare. Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) did not want to prescribe it, because then he would have had to pay it in full. At least he wants to shoot half, the rest of the city has to raise.
