Munich today – News from February 16th, 2022 – Munich

Anyone who has lived in one of the cordoned-off areas during the Munich Security Conference does not have it easy, especially not if you own a dog. Because a dog also wants to go outside. So several times a day we had to leave the zone, past highly armed emergency services, who were both watching us suspiciously. After all, the officials seemed to remember us at some point. Anyway, after a few walks, they didn’t want to see my ID anymore, which I had to use to prove that I lived where I lived. There will be another security conference this weekend. Around 600 high-ranking guests from politics, business, the military and non-governmental organizations are expected. After last year’s event was only held digitally due to the corona virus, this time the conference will again be held in person. As a result, the city and police will set up a security area around the Bayerischer Hof conference venue. There should be demonstrations and rallies, and also one or two traffic jams in the city center. From Friday, 6 a.m. to Sunday, 5 p.m., the exclusion zone may only be entered and passed by accredited people or persons with a legitimate interest. You can read in my overview how the Bayerischer Hof has prepared for the event and what residents – whether with or without a dog – can expect this weekend. Personally, I’m relaxed about the security conference this time: I no longer live in the restricted area.

THE DAY IN MUNICH

At the Nockherberg the barks again After a two-year break, the date for the Salvator test has been postponed to the end of April.

So it goes on after the S-Bahn accident After the head-on collision of two S-Bahn trains, the rescue of the trains is being prepared. But the specialists can only get started once they have the investigators’ approval.

What do the new Corona rules mean for football? The Free State lowers the requirements for amateur players, coaches and spectators. Relief also applies to fans of professional clubs.

Is there a chance of a cable car over the Isar? A study shows that a route over the Frankfurter Ring would not pay off. The investigation cost the city and Free State more than half a million euros – both now want to target a different route. Critics show little understanding for this.
