Munich today – News from February 14th, 2022 – Munich

They want to go to middle school, of all places. 46 women and men in Bavaria have decided to do something different. Learning a new job after half a lifetime. You want to become a middle school teacher, and Iryna Wagner tells of the reaction of an acquaintance: “But there are conditions there!” She called out. Not true, says Wagner. She has been to many middle schools for several months, but she has never experienced conditions like this.

Iryna Wagner is one of twelve seminar participants in Munich. The average age is 44 years, the youngest participant is 32, the oldest 52. The seminar for career changers lasts two years; they each have one day of seminar instruction with the other participants, four days they teach and watch colleagues teach. If she then passes the second state examination after two years of traineeship, then Iryna Wagner is a secondary school teacher.

The Ministry of Culture launched this measure last year because there is a lack of middle school teachers across Bavaria and too few graduates from the universities follow (SZ Plus). Seminar leader Marion Bauer teaches Iryna Wagner and the other participants how to explain the circle number Pi to students, what the EIS principle is and what that has to do with teaching. And she watches their lessons, discussing with them what went well and what didn’t go well.

Marion Bauer is convinced that many good middle school teachers will emerge from her seminar. And she is glad that they have recognized what she has known for a long time: that, as she says, being a middle school teacher is the best job in the world.

THE DAY IN MUNICH

One dead and around 30 injured in S-Bahn collision The two S-Bahn trains collided south of Munich on Monday afternoon. According to the fire department, the victim was a passenger.

Corona vaccination in the tram The tram now stops at a different location every day. The city is thus relying on further mobile offers.

The Oscars in Munich The city bestows a whopping 82 prizes and awards, a good half of which go to artists. Many winners can look forward to money, some rather to attention – and unusual sculptures.

Ring start for Circus Krone After two years of closure, not only do the artists have to rehearse their processes, but all employees, “from the toilet lady to the lighting technicians”. And the animals also lack experience with light, music and audience.

The fourth track is getting closer The “Deutschlandtakt” envisages an expansion of the S4 from Pasing to Eichenau. Bavaria’s Transport Minister Kerstin Schreyer had previously spoken out in favor of a variant with three rails – now she is moving away from her position.
