Munich today – news from December 28th, 2021 – Munich

The fact that everyone reacts differently to the challenges of the pandemic is a rush. Scientists from the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the LMU managed to create a typology of the reactions. They distinguish eight types: the mindful, the burned-out, the thinker, the indignant, the exhausted, the frugal, the cooperative and the confident, of course also in their feminine form. They have now developed a little gimmick out of this, the Pandem-O-Mat. It can be used to find out in a few minutes what proportion of a type the respective test person carries.

That may seem unimportant, but the real aim of the study was to find out how people are dealing with the pandemic and what is helping them. Numerous researchers from a wide variety of disciplines deal on a daily basis with the coronavirus, its control and its effects on individuals and society. We have put together some of the most promising, most original, most interesting research projects (SZ Plus) – perhaps also a compendium of hope in these times.

Because it shows one thing above all: Humanity has not surrendered to its fate, there are many, many people around the world fighting the pandemic. And that, I think, is a good cause for cautious optimism. Therefore my wish for you today: stay confident!

Several demonstrators announced in advance that they would take their children with them – also with the aim of making it more difficult for the police to use pepper spray.
