It is clear to everyone that things cannot go on as before with traffic in a city like Munich. But how do you reduce cars, how do you create a better quality of life? Five Munich start-ups have quite a few ideas.

Back then, especially in the fifties and sixties, urban planners did everything in their power to subordinate their metropolises to cars. Driven by a strong car lobby, wide streets, lots of parking lots and inner-city highways were created. Those who could afford it moved to the outskirts – and caused even more traffic by commuting to work. It was like that in all big cities, including Munich. Today it is clear that this development was a mistake. The streets in the city and the highways around them are congested. The buses and trains that are supposed to relieve them are often overcrowded. And greenhouse gas emissions are far too high.
