Munich: The Volkstheater is open – Munich

The second proud cultural building that the city of Munich completed in times of the pandemic has officially opened. In the new Volkstheater in the Schlachthofviertel, the curtain rose for the very first time in front of an audience. At the beginning, artistic director Christian Stückl, who himself welcomed his guests on Friday evening, staged a classic: “Edward II.” by Christopher Marlowe.

And the people and their representatives came in droves. The theater makers can also wish for such a fully occupied house in the coming weeks and months. The house itself offers the perfect setting for this. Behind the masterpiece of combining state-of-the-art technology on and behind the stage with a magical feel-good atmosphere for the audience are two men and their teams: the architect Arno Lederer and the Ravensburger “general contractor” Hans-Jörg Reisch.

The fact that they worked on budget and on schedule is one of the key issues on this evening too. Now the audience had the opportunity to take a look at the details of this work, such as the lights on the walls in the audience room. They are already the secret stars of this theater.
