Munich: The Julian Blumenthaler Quartet in the Unterfahrt – Munich

Julian Blumenthaler was taught the violin from the age of five. Classic and so successful that the Nuremberger became national winner at “Jugend musiziert”. At that time he was already looking for other, freer ways and infected by the jazz virus. Stylistically, he is far more open than most of his colleagues, who are still rare in jazz: he was already with the hip-hop-jazz collective while he was studying in Munich and Klagenfurt Ferge x Fisherman & The Lakesideboyz throughout the German-speaking area. Now “Jou-Lee”, as he likes to be called, presents in the underpass as part of the “Unheard” series for young talents, his own funky-soul fusion, with his excellent quartet with Vitaly Burtsev on keys, Felix Renner on bass and Vincent Crusius on drums.

Julian Blumenthaler Quartet, Wed., Jan. 18, 8.30 p.m., Unterfahrt, Einsteinstr. 42, phone 448 27 94
