Munich start-up: a PC for seniors, easy to use – Munich

Jakob Bergmeier wanted to include his grandma in the family chat. He developed a device, initially in a cardboard box, that is easy to use: put on an action card, start a video call.

“The whole family was talking and laughing, only my grandma sat there uninvolved” – Jakob Bergmeier remembers the moment when, looking back, his path to founding a company began. “Our family chat via WhatsApp had caused an imbalance. My siblings, parents and I regularly exchanged photos and experiences. When we met Grandma, we would give her the information one by one.” So we didn’t get along together, which made him sad. Bergmeier started tinkering for his grandma. He wanted to build a simple smartphone alternative so she could read news and view pictures. Today the 32-year-old electrical engineer is managing director of Enna Systems GmbH. His start-up has developed a docking station that makes it easy for seniors to be present digitally.
