Munich: Stadtwerke reject the wind turbine at the forest cemetery – Munich

The district of Sendling-Westpark wants to start with the energy transition on its own doorstep. The visitors to the citizens’ meeting last October could even imagine wind turbines at the forest cemetery or Südpark. The municipal utilities have examined the idea – but reject it.

The Südpark, also known as Sendlinger Wald, is used intensively for local recreation, and the Waldfriedhof is one of the four largest cemeteries in Munich. In the densely populated district, the prescribed distance to the nearest residential buildings cannot be maintained. In order for a wind turbine to be worthwhile at all because of the very low wind speeds there, it must be realized with a hub height of 160 meters. That in turn would tear the limits for noise and shadows.
