During construction work, a small excavator fell on a track at Munich Central Station on Thursday evening. The 38-year-old driver then complained of pain in the spine and was taken to the hospital, the federal police said on Friday. Rail traffic was not affected – the track had been closed anyway because of the work.
According to the federal police, the machinist was digging a hole around 9:30 p.m. When he swung the excavator bucket loaded with stones and sand across the track, the vehicle tipped over. The accident happened a few meters in front of the station building on the track bed. The damage to the machine can probably be repaired.
