Just in time for the European Championships, temperatures in Munich have reached 30 degrees. In order to provide football fans with enough water, eleven mobile drinking fountains were installed in Munich for the duration of the European Championships. But now more than half of them will probably have to be taken out of service by Thursday.
All four drinking water dispensers in the arena in Fröttmaning and two of the seven dispensers in the fan zone in the Olympic Park are affected. The latter were taken out of service for maintenance “due to current deviations of individual monitoring parameters from the strict standard specifications,” said Lukas Schauer, press spokesman for the Department of Education and Sport in the City of Munich. The measure serves as preventive health protection.
Outside the fan zone and the stadium, football fans can get water from 48 drinking fountains in the city. These are accessible via the Geo-Portal Munich of the city administration.
