Munich: S-Bahn main route blocked at the weekend – all information – Munich

Deutsche Bahn continues work on the new electronic interlocking at Munich Ostbahnhof. Next weekend, passengers will therefore have to be prepared for timetable changes and rail replacement services on the main route from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

On Saturday, January 7, from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., no S-Bahn trains will run between Isartor and Leuchtenbergring, Giesing and Johanneskirchen. Trains coming from the west turn around at the Isartor (S2, S3), at the main station (S1, S7, S8) and in Pasing (S4, S6). Trains coming from the east turn around in Giesing (S3, S7), at Leuchtenbergring (S6) and in Johanneskirchen (S8). The S2 runs over long-distance railway tracks and turns at platform 13/14 at Ostbahnhof. Replacement buses run every ten minutes between Isartor and Ostbahnhof and every 20 minutes between Ostbahnhof and Johanneskirchen.

From 1.00 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. the trains will again run between Isartor and Ostbahnhof/Giesing. The S3 and S7 run regularly, the S2 runs from the west to Ostbahnhof. All other lines and the replacement service between Ostbahnhof and Johanneskirchen will continue as in the morning.

On Sunday, January 8, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., no S-Bahn trains will run between Ostbahnhof and Leuchtenbergring or Johanneskirchen. The S3 and S7 run without restrictions. The other lines turn around early: Trains coming from the west turn around at Ostbahnhof (S1, S2, S6), at Hauptbahnhof (S8) and in Pasing (S4). Trains coming from the east turn around in Trudering (S6), Johanneskirchen (S8) and Riem (S2).

From 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.: The S1 runs again to Leuchtenbergring. All other lines will continue to operate as they did in the morning. On Sunday, the replacement buses only run every 20 minutes.

From January 10th to June 7th there are frequent timetable changes on the main route, even at night. This applies above all to the nights from Tuesday to Wednesday and sometimes also from Wednesday to Thursday.
