Should he or should he not? The heart beats in the chest. He thinks about it again, yes or no, prefers to go around the house again. Then Horst Schreck gives himself a jerk, opens the door – and is amazed at the gracious reception. He quickly feels comfortable in the room with the barred counter, the wooden pallets with mattresses on which many men and a few women sit, discuss, cuddle. How different it is here compared to the bars in which he is usually out and about, where you have to ring the doorbell and then first be inspected through a peephole before you can enter. Anyone can come here, regardless of whether they are gay, lesbian or whatever – in Munich in the 1970s, that didn’t happen very often.
