Police have arrested two men for sexually harassing women in public. According to the police headquarters, the first incident happened on Friday around 2:45 p.m. on the Theresienwiese. A 40-year-old woman was walking there when an unknown man approached her and tried to touch her privates. The woman jumped backwards to defend herself, the man kept trying to touch the woman before fleeing. Several patrols of the police, alerted by the woman, searched for the perpetrator and arrested him in the Theresienwiese area. According to the police, the second case occurred in a shopping center in Perlach. Suddenly, a man grabbed an 18-year-old woman between the legs and asked if she wanted sex. The woman called the center’s security service, who held the perpetrator until the police arrived. During the search of the 40-year-old, the police found a fake Swiss ID card, and it was also determined that there was an arrest warrant for the man. After examining his ability to remain in custody – the man’s breath alcohol content was 2.8 per mille – he was taken into custody at the police station. A police spokesman said they wanted to encourage women to report abuse of this kind and that the police take this very seriously and are taking immediate action.
