Munich: Petition failed – Zeppelinstrasse in the Au will be rebuilt – Munich

Construction work to redesign Zeppelinstrasse in the Au and the square in front of the Museum Lichtspiele cinema is due to begin at the beginning of July. An attempt by local residents to prevent the redesign at the last minute failed on Wednesday in the city council’s mobility committee. They had collected 400 signatures for a petition and opposed the removal of parking spaces.

They were supported by the CSU/Free Voters and FDP/Bayernpartei factions. Like the district committee before them, they had voted for the reconstruction almost two years ago. Now they wanted to push through a cycle path that at least would not require reconstruction and would retain all parking spaces. For the planned construction of cycle paths, around 90 parking spaces in Zeppelinstrasse and the surrounding area would have to be removed, while 50 would remain for residents. However, the mobility department has ruled out a cycle path with parking spaces on both sides for safety reasons.
