Nine construction workers suffered carbon monoxide poisoning during grinding work in a Munich underground car park. Police said eight workers were taken to hospital on Wednesday evening. Two of them had to be treated in the intensive care unit.
The men had previously sanded off a new layer of concrete. Because the exhaust air conditions in the underground car park were insufficient, carbon monoxide (CO) formed. The fire department initiated extensive ventilation measures until the CO levels were back to normal. The police have started an investigation into the industrial accident.
