Catholic churches
New Year’s Eve: in the Liebfrauendom the year-end sermon begins at 5 p.m. with Cardinal Reinhard Marx, followed by the year-end prayer; music for wind instruments and organ can be heard. The Jesuits also invite in at 5 p.m. St. Michael, Cardinal Marx’s sermon is broadcast there from the cathedral, there is music by the Michael choir and orchestra; End of the year at 10 p.m. with organ music and text impulses.
In the Holy Spirit Church there is a New Year’s Eve concert at 8 p.m. St. Maximilian celebrates mass at 6 p.m. with parts from the Christmas Oratorio by Johann Sebastian Bach and a short New Year’s Eve concert by the church choir). In the Theatine Church at 4 pm devotional with the cantata “Heart and Mouth and Action and Life” for soloists, choir and orchestra by Johann Sebastian Bach. In St. Peter there is festive music for brass and timpani at 6 p.m. St. Paul invites you to a poetic nativity sound installation every hour on the hour from 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.
In St. Ludwig The choir sings works by Bach, Mendelssohn and Rheinberger at 5 p.m., followed by the organ work “La Nativité du Seigneur” by Olivier Messiaen at 9 p.m. St. New Years Eve celebrates the patronage at 5 p.m., the vocal circle and an instrumental ensemble with baroque instruments offer parts from the Missa Sanctae Caeciliae by Jan Dismas Zelenka and from the cantata “Thank God, the year is coming to an end” by Johann Sebastian Bach.
In St. Ursula invites you to the “Boléro de concert” in G minor Opus 166 by Louis James Alfred Lefébure-Wély at 5 pm. In St. Joseph The New Year’s Eve vigil begins at 7.30 p.m. with brass and organ. Heart of jesus celebrates at 5 p.m. with festive instrumental music for trumpet and organ.
New Year: in the Liebfrauendom A bishop’s mass begins at 12 noon with Cardinal Reinhard Marx with exposure of the Holy of Holies, followed by silent prayer in front of the Holy of Holies at 1 p.m. At 5.30 p.m. pontifical vespers with Cardinal Marx and polyphonic vespers by the vocal ensemble of the Junge Domkantorei. At 6.30 p.m., soloists from the Capella Cathedralis will sing Gregor Aichinger’s “Missa de Beata Virgine”.
In St. Michael The Michael Choir and the Orchestra will present Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Coronation Mass at 10 a.m. the Citizens Hall Church invites you to the solemn feast of Our Lady Mary at 11.30 am with Johann Sebastian Bach’s Sonata in E minor, Luigi Cherubini’s “Ave Maria” and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Laudate Dominum” for soprano, flute and organ.
the Holy Spirit Church celebrates mass with prayer at 11 a.m. at the Hammerthal Mother of God. In the Theatine Church a Latin high mass is celebrated with the vocal band at 10.30 am, the “Salve sancta parens” from the “Missa ne timeas Maria” by Giovanni Gastoldi is heard as a proprium. In St. Peter The Mass in B flat major D 324 by Franz Schubert sounds at 10 a.m., and festive instrumental music for trumpet and organ in Herz Jesu at 6 p.m.
Protestant churches
New Year’s Eve: In the Assumption Church a service with wind music begins at 5 p.m. At the same time plays in the Reformation Memorial Church the trombone choir, and the Paul Gerhardt choir sings in the Paul Gerhardt Church.
With Pastor Antonia Janßen a musical service with confession begins at 6 p.m. Andreas Church. St. Matthew invites you to a service with confession at 6 p.m., other services with confession begin at 5 p.m. in St. Luke, in the Luther Church and in the Holy Spirit Church and at 6 p.m. in the Christ Church.
New Year: Regional Bishop Dr. Heinrich Bedford-Strohm invites you to the festive service at 10 a.m. St. Matthew one. At 5 p.m. St. Mark a service with trumpet and organ takes place. In the Assumption Church Pasing A fairytale service for adults begins at 5 p.m.: “The Frog King or The Iron Heinrich”.
