Munich: Municipal subsidiaries are building almost 400 apartments in Poing – Munich

The two municipal housing companies Gewofag and GWG want to build almost 400 new apartments in the municipality of Poing east of Munich in the coming years. From June onwards, the first 157 are to be built in ten buildings in the newly developed “Lerchenwinkel” district. A total of 800 residential units for 2000 residents are to be built there.

Of the almost 400 apartments in total, 156 fall under the income-oriented subsidy (EOF), the rent for a further 91 apartments is price-controlled, the other apartments are privately financed. Gewofag alone will invest more than 100 million euros in two construction phases.

The leap over the city limits is nothing new for either company: Gewofag has been managing residential complexes in Taufkirchen for several decades, GWG in Germering. Because the shortage of housing and high rents are not exclusively Munich phenomena, according to GWG Managing Director Armin Hagen.
