Munich: Moshammer murderer could soon be deported – Munich

The Iraqi convicted of the murder of the Munich fashion czar Rudolph Moshammer could be deported to his country of origin in the foreseeable future. In the meantime, the identity of the man has been recognized by Iraq, the State Office for Asylum and Repatriations said on request. The necessary replacement passport paper is available. “Now we are in close cooperation with the federal police, the judiciary and the Iraqi authorities to organize and carry out a timely repatriation flight for the person concerned.”

The Munich I public prosecutor had already declared in November 2022 that they would refrain from further execution of the prison sentence in the event of deportation from prison. The man would then not be allowed to enter Germany for the rest of his life. However, the public prosecutor’s office had refused to release him from prison for the remainder of his sentence in Germany. The central prerequisites for the deportation have thus been created.

The man’s lawyer, Adam Ahmed, said over the weekend that his client was hoping for deportation. He had therefore withdrawn the application for release from prison in Germany. However, Ahmed announced that he would submit the application again if his client was not deported within the next two weeks. In principle, an early release from prison would have been possible from January 15, since then the minimum period of 18 years in this case expired.

In January 2005, the then 25-year-old Iraqi strangled Moshammer to death with a power cable in his house in the Munich suburb of Grünwald. Moshammer, who never made his homosexuality public, took it home with him. The Iraqi was arrested a little later, his DNA traces were found at the crime scene. The Munich I Regional Court sentenced him to life imprisonment for murder and robbery and determined the particular gravity of his guilt.
