Lukas Bärfuss has written a novel about the question of whether one can escape one’s origins and poverty. He is now presenting “Die Krume Brot” in the Munich Literature House – and is thus also preparing the audience for autumn, when he will curate the forum for the literature festival.
This is the story of a struggle. Adelina struggles to find a way out of debt and poverty. The young woman, born in Switzerland as the daughter of Italian immigrants, toils away in a factory, a bar, anywhere. But their path only leads further and further down from below.
