Munich letter center moves to Germering after 25 years – Munich

In January the Munich letter center will move to Germering. The move is a delicate project as it takes place during ongoing operations. A final visit to the listed parcel post hall.

The Munich post office has been going out of the old parcel post office for a good 25 years. The “Parcel Post Office Track Hall”, as it was officially called in the past, was built north of the Friedenheimer Bridge in the 1960s. Today the building, made of precast concrete elements, is a listed building. Under its spectacularly folded vault, Deutsche Post opened the Munich letter center in June 1998. Since then, around 16 billion letters from the region and for the region have been sorted there. If you put them all together, you could circle the world 81 times.
