At the beginning of the Corona period, there were 200 PCR tests a day. But then it grew every day. The Staber laboratory on Hofer Strasse was reaching its limits. New equipment was needed. And, what was even more difficult, more staff. There were 15,000 tests per day in Munich and at five other laboratory locations in Germany at the peak of the pandemic. Almost two million tests have been analyzed since February 2020. Now there are only 2,000 to 3,000 swabs a day across the association. The laboratory no longer needs some of the equipment – and can also get by with fewer employees.
