The city has taken a decisive step forward with the planned merger of its housing associations. The general meeting of the city council is to decide on a concept for the merger of GWG and Gewofag in the coming week. On January 1, 2024, the joint company is to start under the new name of Münchner Wohnen, and the merger is to be completed the following year. This is based on the draft resolution from the planning department, which is available to the SZ. Munich’s third mayor, Verena Dietl (SPD), who is moderating the process, informed the factions of the city council about the cornerstones of the merger this Tuesday.
