Four of the perpetrators are known to the police, also from previous crimes, a fifth has yet to be identified. The oldest of the four boys is 16 years old, another 15, the two youngest 13 and 12 years old. The victim of the act has since been heard. According to the police, it turned out that the fake gang rape was preceded by an attempted predatory blackmail: the 16-year-old suspect had previously threatened the girl with a pocket knife and demanded cash. The children and young people knew each other before the crime, says a police spokesman. The police left open whether the alleged perpetrators belonged to a gang, gang or clique.

Experts have been observing a massive increase in crimes committed by youth gangs in Munich for some time. Last year, 3,709 young people and 1,310 children were listed as suspects within the area of ​​responsibility of the police headquarters.
