Munich donation campaign: bull elephant rescued from zoo in Phuket – Munich

San Mueang spent most of his life chained in a zoo in Thailand. Until a club from Munich bought him out. A conversation about what elephants really need – and what to look out for when vacationing in countries like Thailand.

The bull elephant San Mueang spent most of his life chained at the Phuket Zoo. A year ago it was bought out with the help of donations because the zoo needed money. The Munich-based association “Future for Elephants” financed the complex transport to the north of Thailand. Since then, San Mueang has lived in the “Elephant Nature Park” of the famous animal rights activist Lek Chailert. Iris Koch is a founding member of the Munich association, which actively supports Lek Chailert and also arranges elephant sponsorships.
