Munich: “Coriolan” premiere in the theater “Much Ado About Nothing” – Munich

The timing was chosen boldly: shortly before the turn of the year, the theater brought “Much Ado About Nothing” to the stage of Shakespeare’s “Coriolanus”. On Thursday, December 29, the premiere will be celebrated in the Pasing factory. Presumably most people still think of Schlachtplatte rather than battles. But such a beautifully word-related change of subject can be quite welcome. “Coriolanus” takes place in Rome and the surrounding area in the 5th century BC. The central figure of the tragedy is the general Caius Marcius, who fights a successful battle in the enemy city of Corioli at the beginning and is then given the name Coriolanus. When he ventures into politics and wants to become a consul, his fortunes take a turn, because the hothead Coriolanus is not politically gifted. He is banished, allies himself with the former enemies, marches against Rome and is finally murdered. The theater “Much Ado About Nothing” has shrunk the staff for its version of the tragedy and added two emcees. Directed by Andreas Seyferth.
