Deutsche Bahn (DB) is modernizing the routes between Westkreuz and Freiham and between Gilching and Steinebach, including new tracks and signals. However, the construction work will entail restrictions on the S-Bahn lines S6 and S8 as well as on regional transport from Friday evening, October 18th, to Monday morning, November 4th.
The S6 will be replaced by buses every 20 minutes between Pasing and Gauting, stopping at all stations. On school days, additional buses occasionally run between Westkreuz and Gauting, condensing the replacement service in this section to every ten minutes. The S6 runs regularly between Gauting and Tutzing, it only runs on the two nights of the 21st and 22nd. and 22/23. October to cancellations of individual trips.
The Werdenfelsbahn will be replaced by buses between Munich and Starnberg until October 26th. There are express buses for passengers that only stop at the Donnersbergerbrücke between Munich main station and Starnberg. There is a connection to the S-Bahn lines S3, S4, S6 and S8 to Pasing.
The S8 will be replaced between Pasing and Herrsching by buses every 20 minutes, which stop at all stations except Harthaus. Between Pasing and Germering-Unterpfaffenhofen (sometimes from/to Weßling on school days) the frequency is more frequent: buses run here every ten minutes and stop at all stations – including Harthaus.
In addition, express buses run every 20 minutes between Pasing and Herrsching and only stop in Gilching-Argelsried, Neugilching and Weßling, thus reducing the journey time by 25 minutes.
At Westkreuz the stops are at different locations depending on the line. For the S8, the replacement service stops at the MVG bus stop Westkreuz, for the S6 the buses stop at the MVG bus stop Heimburgstraße.
