Munich: City and MVG should clearly name costs for transport projects – comment – Munich

When it comes to the turnaround in traffic in Munich, there are heated debates in the city about safe or expensive cycle paths, about twelve or 22 parking spaces being eliminated. And almost incidentally, it is often said: Yes, we are also expanding public transport. The city councilors agree on this in principle. They have decided on a generous expansion of the tram network, an expensive subway extension and a new subway line. But more and more things are becoming apparent: Not only could the initially envisaged schedules turn out to be utopian, but also the financing. One gets the impression that the city just decides everything on its own, without an overall view of where the money is supposed to come from.
