Munich-Bogenhausen: Sulfuric acid instead of chlorine – Two injured during swimming pool cleaning – Munich

Two men were injured while cleaning a swimming pool in Bogenhausen. The two had accidentally poured water into a container that contained traces of sulphuric acid, the fire department said.

The technicians were actually only supposed to rinse empty chlorine containers with water so that they could be removed later. However, in the container with the acid, the water triggered a chemical reaction that produced fumes.

One of the men made an emergency call after the incident late on Tuesday evening. Both were treated on site and taken to hospital. The basement of the high-rise building on Fritz-Meyer-Weg, where the pool is located, was ventilated for several hours using special equipment.
