Munich: Bells shine again on the Chinese Tower – Munich

Parallel to the rise in temperature, Bavaria’s Minister of Finance, Albert Füracker, also went up on Wednesday: he had himself lifted up into the bright blue sky by means of a crane in order to complete the extensive restoration of the Chinese Tower there.

After the lower level of the roofing had already been renewed in autumn 2021, the work on the upper floors was completed the following year before Christmas. When the old cedar shingles were replaced with new ones, the scaffolding that had surrounded the tower for months was dismantled in January.

But only now does the roof really shine again: Minister Füracker personally attached the last of the 48 gold-plated bells. The funds for the beauty treatment also came from his finance department, and the beautification of the landmark in the English Garden cost around 230,000 euros.

And this is how the action presented itself from afar.

The beer garden will remain a construction site for a while: in the southern part, water and sewage pipes as well as power lines have to be relaid, a requirement of the district administration department, so that a Christmas market can also take place there in the future.
