Munich: Allacher continue to argue about planned refugee accommodation – Munich

The protests against a planned refugee accommodation on Servetstrasse in Allach continue. On Tuesday evening, residents – around 40 in number – repeatedly criticized the location at the district committee meeting because it sealed “the most beautiful spot in Allach, the only recreational meadow we still have”. At the same time, some citizens expressed the fear that immigration could lead to an aggravation of the care problem in the kindergartens and schools in the district.

The local politicians countered, explaining that the lack of childcare places had nothing to do with the origin of the children, but with the lack of qualified staff. “It’s exactly the opposite of what you think,” said district representative Falk Lamkewitz (Greens). “The refugee children increase our chances of daycare places.”

The debate reflected the mood of a number of Allach residents: They feel that the district committee does not take this question seriously and does not support them. Lamkewitz emphasized that he “constantly talks to people who think it’s great that Allach is taking in refugees,” and that the critics’ view is “an unrepresentative minority opinion.” The guests present on Tuesday nevertheless called for a special session on the subject.

“This district,” said Isabel Nazari Golpayegani, chairwoman of the “Common Concept for Allach and Karlsfeld” (GKAK) association, “is at a tipping point. People can’t shake the feeling that the boat is full”. For a long time, “everything was tipped over to Allach, according to the motto, they’ll do it.” Now the goal must be to “capture people again – so that they don’t feel left behind”.

An assessment that city councilor Heike Kainz (CSU), for many years head of the Allach-Untermenzing district committee, can understand. It “would be good,” she said, “to take the time to talk for an evening.” She herself finds the location “difficult”. BA boss Pascal Fuckerieder (SPD) commented: “We are not closing ourselves off to such an event.”
