Munich: “Alice” at the Metropoltheater – Munich

The Metropoltheater plays again: On Saturday, December 3, the house resumes its production of “Alice” by Robert Wilson and Tom Waits. The piece is daydream and nightmare, poetry and psycho trip, combines music and acting into a light, floating form of musical theatre. In 2017 director Philipp Moschitz staged “Alice” and gave the Metropoltheater a hit. The play is a nexus of Lewis Carroll’s “Alice in Wonderland” and Charles Dodgson, aka Lewis Carroll’s obsessive relationship with his fashion model, Alice Lidell. The revival of “Alice” was planned long before the debate about Wajdi Mouawad’s play “Birds”. The Metropoltheater had canceled the last performances of “Birds”, which were planned for 2022, after allegations of anti-Semitism.
