Munich: 17-year-old races through Obersendling – Munich in a car sharing car

On Friday evening, the police tried to stop a 17-year-old from Munich who was driving at excessive speed in a car sharing provider. A patrol crew noticed the driving style at Harras, so the officers wanted to stop the vehicle and check the driver.

The 17-year-old trainee tried to evade control and accelerated his vehicle significantly, violating several traffic regulations according to the police. Due to the excessive speed, however, he lost control of his car, damaged a barrier and a sign and finally collided with two large stones that were lying on a central strip of green. In the accident, the 17-year-old suffered a traumatic brain injury and broke his nose.

The car was severely damaged in the collision and was no longer roadworthy. The 17-year-old did not have a valid driver’s license; he wasn’t drunk. He is now being investigated for driving without a license, unauthorized removal from the scene of the accident and prohibited motor vehicle racing. He had rented the car using his older sister’s driver’s license data – without her knowledge. He will probably no longer be able to get his driver’s license at the age of 18.
