Munich: 14-year-old killed in Bogenhausen – suspect caught – Munich

A 14-year-old girl was found dead on Sunday morning in her parents’ apartment in Munich’s Bogenhausen district. The corpse showed traces of violence, a violent crime is assumed, said a police spokesman on Sunday. The police have not yet confirmed media reports that the girl was stabbed.

The homicide squad is now investigating. The suspect is a 17-year-old from Munich, from whom it is not yet clear whether it is the girl’s ex-boyfriend. He was caught by the federal police on Monday morning at a train station in Munich’s urban area.

According to the police, the two are said to have been friends, a police spokesman said there was apparently a “previous relationship”. The police did not provide any information about possible motives. However, the investigation was not limited to the youth, it was investigated in all directions, said a police spokeswoman on Monday.

The police had apparently been called on Sunday morning by the mother of the 14-year-old at 7.40 a.m. to the house in the Denning district of Bogenhausen. The act must have happened during the night. Rescue workers tried in vain to reanimate the girl.

The police searched “with everything that is available”

Already in the morning there was a large police operation in the tranquil area in the east of Munich. A helicopter rattled over the family houses, and a hundred officers searched the area – according to the police, this is routine in a homicide.

At the scene of the crime, the police carried out extensive forensic investigation. In the afternoon, the street in which the alleged homicide occurred was closed. Camera teams were positioned in front of the cordon, and police officers made sure that no one could get behind the red and white cordon tapes. A resident who wanted to drive to his house was not allowed through either.

A suspect has been caught, the investigation continues

Police spokesman Sven Müller said at a press conference near the crime scene on Sunday afternoon that the police would now collect all information “with everything that is available” and proceed in a routine manner, for example checking the suspect’s contact addresses and social environment. The entire Munich police force is involved in this. As is customary in such cases, the girl’s body is to be autopsied. According to the police, it was still unclear when the autopsy would take place on Sunday afternoon.

According to police statistics, the clearance rate for murder and manslaughter is very high. The security report lists six murders and 20 attempted murders as well as seven cases of manslaughter and 31 cases of attempted manslaughter for Munich in 2020. A total of 64 homicides were included in the statistics last year. Because many of them are longer in the past and are only subsequently recorded in the overall statistics when the information is cleared up, it can happen that the clearing-up rate is more than 100 percent in purely mathematical terms. The Munich police succeeded in doing this with a good 101 percent in 2020.
