Move for youth, what good plans to take advantage of the biennale for free?

The health context could have got the better of their will. The organizers of the dance biennial have nevertheless stayed the course in order to offer a whole program to spectators. Fifteen intense days with a multiplication of free events that should not be shunned. 20 minutes has selected a few, aimed at young people, which will take place in the Fagor factories in Lyon.

A projection into the future

The floor is given to adolescents. Who are they ? How do they see their future? The artist Irivin Anneix offered young people aged 15 to 20 from France, overseas, French-speaking Africa to film themselves in their room, alone in front of a selfie-style camera to address themselves in ten years. Their testimonials have been compiled for the needs of a captivating, funny but also touching video installation that will be shown from June 8 to 16.

Apaches who combine hip-hop with jazz and classical

They will be about twenty professionals to dance under the leadership of Saïdo Lehlouh, experienced in the exercise of street performances. Apaches will offer a dive into the world of b-boying (breakdance) associated for the first time with classical and jazz. A way of highlighting a style of dance, long considered to be on the fringes. To be discovered on Saturday June 12 at 6.30 p.m.

A very house battle

Frenzied choreas, improvised figures to, in the end, win. This is the concept of dance battles. Don’t miss the one that will take place on Sunday June 13 at 4:30 p.m. For three hours, dancers from all over the world will compete on the track to the rhythm of house music. Hip-hop, classical, contemporary dance, dancehall, afro, top rock… Each participant will try to convince the jury with his style.

Try the I-Dance experience

The concept: create an avatar to dance on a virtual stage. The artist Pierre Giner will invite the public to step into the skin of a fictional double, then to interpret moments of choreography, imagined by big names in contemporary dance. How it works ? We scan ourselves, we personalize our avatar, we choose a dance and we have fun making our virtual twin move. Without forgetting to share the video on social networks. To be tested from Tuesday 8 June to Sunday 13.

An “incredible” ballet

Choreographer Thierry Thieû Niang has been working since 2016 with a group of teenagers who will come to present the creation Inouï. Through the dance, it will be a question of emotions, rites of attraction, also prohibitions. “It is often in chaos that adolescents build and transform. They try, risk, fall and get up, ”indicates the dancer who will collaborate with young amateurs from Villeurbanne. A show to be seen on Saturday June 12 at 7.15 p.m. at the Fagor factories but also the day before at the TNP in Villeurbanne at 6 p.m.
