Longtime singer-songwriter for rock band Fleetwood Mac, Christine McVie, is dead. She wrote and sang some of the band’s biggest hits — like “Little Lies,” “Don’t Stop,” and “You Make Loving Fun.” McVie was 79 years old.

Fleetwood Mac singer Christine McVie is dead. She died “peacefully” in a hospital at the age of 79, according to her family and the band.

“There are no words to describe our sadness at the death of Christine McVie,” the band wrote on Twitter. “She was the best musician you could have in your band and the best friend you could have in your life.”

The Brit joined Fleetwood Mac in 1971. She sang, played keyboards and wrote some of the band’s big hits, including “Little Lies” and “Don’t Stop,” which was written during her split from husband John McVie – the band’s bassist.

She was part of the cast that released the 1977 million-selling album Rumors. Already in 1968, when the band was founded by Peter Green, she played keyboards on the album “Mr. Wonderful”. She left Fleetwood Mac in 1995, but later co-produced a few albums with the band and released several solo records.

On 25 February 2020 she was among the musicians called to London by Mick Fleetwood for a concert celebrating the music of Peter Green – “Celebrate the Music of Peter Green”.
