A mother and her 10-year-old daughter were found dead overnight from Wednesday to Thursday at their home in Vaulx-en-Velin (Rhône), and the father, suspected of being the author, was placed in police custody, said the Lyon prosecutor’s office.
The facts were revealed by the suspect himself who presented himself Thursday around 1:15 a.m. at the city police station “declaring that he had killed his wife and daughter”. He “was immediately placed in police custody,” the same source told AFP, confirming information from the daily. Progress.
The prosecution has opened an investigation
“The police went to the victims’ homes (…) and discovered the lifeless body of the respondent’s companion and their 10-year-old daughter,” continued the public prosecutor’s office which opened an investigation for intentional homicides “by a person who is or has been a spouse or cohabitant or partner linked to the victim by a civil solidarity pact” and on a minor under 15 years of age.
Entrusted to the Rhône Departmental Security, the investigation is continuing “currently in order to determine the motives and the exact circumstances of the acting out”.
