There are more and more single households in Bavaria. Above all, senior citizens and younger people live alone. This is shown by the results of the 2021 microcensus, as announced by the State Office for Statistics in Fürth on Friday.
Accordingly, there are 6.3 million private households in Bavaria. 40 percent of them are single households. In the big cities, the proportion is 51 percent, in smaller communities only 32 percent. Two people live in 33 percent of households; 23 percent of the households are made up of three or four people. Four percent of households have five or more people living under one roof. In 2001, the proportion of single households was still 28 percent.
