Moore are important for the climate and also make something. Our photos show just how enchanting bogs can be and why protecting the wetlands is so important.
The maidenhair moss that covers the moorland in the Schwenninger Moos in Baden-Württemberg glows almost neon green. The dark moor water and the foliage – the picture was taken in autumn – form a color contrast. Photojournalist Kiki Streitberger captured the scene on one of her walks. “More are fairytale places,” says Streitberger. “They change constantly, look different in the morning than in the evening and also change with the seasons.”
