The economist Tomaso Duso is the new head of the Monopolies Commission. He has clear ideas about how Deutsche Bahn can become successful again – and he explains why splitting up Google would be the right thing to do.
Tomaso Duso, 53, reports from his office in Berlin; behind him you can see a badly plucked office plant that he obviously doesn’t have much time for. Duso was born in Padua, Italy, but has lived in Germany for a long time. He is an economics professor at the TU Berlin, head of the Companies and Markets department at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW) – and, for a few days now, also chairman of the Monopolies Commission. The committee advises the federal government on competition issues.
