Monika Gruber has had enough of the stage. Today, Thursday, she is still playing at the Stadttheater Wels, her calendar is well filled with performances in Austria until the end of the year. But after December 31st in the Salzburg “Congress” it will be over: Wherever the ticket sales for 2022 are illuminated for the colleagues from the traveling cabaret folk, the Gruberin’s website remains dark.
“My current stage program (which is aptly called “Without Words”, d.Red.) is my last, “she said image-Newspaper. She doesn’t want to miss the jump. Only: jump where? In private? At just 50?
Her new book has just been published by Piper Verlag: “Backstage – the woman behind the stage animal”. She is also writing a script for a film in which she also wants to act. Only for the stage is the motivation no longer enough after more than 20 years.
