Money for students and technical students: Energy flat rate of 200 euros decided

Status: 11/18/2022 1:21 p.m

As part of the relief package, the federal cabinet has initiated a one-off payment for students and technical students. They receive a one-off payment of 200 euros. Payment is scheduled for early 2023.

Because of the high energy costs, students and technical students receive 200 euros from the state. The federal cabinet decided on the one-off payment. The federal government bears the costs. A total of 3.4 million students and technical students can apply for the money.

It is still unclear when exactly the amount can be paid out. The last time we talked was January, but the Federal Ministry of Education continued to only roughly name the beginning of the year as the date.

The deadline is December 1, 2022

According to this, students and technical students should be able to apply for the money via a digital platform. According to the ministry, this is still in progress. All students and technical students who are enrolled at a university or in specialist training on December 1, 2022 can receive the money. A domicile or “habitual abode” in Germany is required.

At technical schools, for example, educators, technicians or business economists are trained. The Bundestag still has to approve the law.

After dependent employees and pensioners, students are the third group to receive a one-off payment for energy costs from the state. Employees received 300 euros in September, pensioners should also receive 300 euros by December 15th.

Contrary to previous plans, the cabinet has not yet dealt with the planned price brakes for gas and electricity. These legislative projects are to be passed shortly by circulation, i.e. without a joint meeting.
