On June 2, 2021, players once again plunged into the outland of “World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade”. The date marks the relaunch of Blizzard’s popular massively multiplayer online roleplay game (MMOPRG for short). With “Burning Crusade”, the developer has given all classes of the game a comprehensive update, among other things. Of course, this includes some new attacks that players can trigger with the press of a button.

And that’s where MMO mice come in, giving online role-playing game players more control over their class than regular mice can. The reason for this is the many additional buttons on the gaming mice, which the players can freely configure. MMO mice allow gamers to place individual attacks (or macros) on the mouse buttons. Accordingly, gamers do not have to bend their hand on the keyboard when they want to execute a specific attack or – God forbid – command the attack with a mouse click.

1. Razer Naga Pro: The all-rounder

The Razer Naga Pro offers almost everything that MMO gamers could wish for. On the left are modular buttons that gamers can swap out depending on their playstyle. Perfect for anyone who also plays battle royale games or shooters. A maximum of 20 programmable keys are available to gamers, to which players bind their hero’s attacks or macros. This can be done using the included software from Razer. The optical Razer Focus Plus sensor offers a maximum speed of 20,000 dots per inch (DPI). Very few gamers want to adjust their mouse that quickly, but at least it is possible. In addition, the mouse is wireless. The battery is charged via a USB cable.

2. Logitech G502: Solid heavyweight

The Logitech G502 is one of the all-rounders of MMO mice. It offers “only” eleven programmable buttons, but that’s enough for most players of online role-playing games. Sure, for the significantly lower price compared to Razer’s Naga Pro, you shouldn’t expect a modular system for the side buttons. But the G502 is equally suitable for shooters, strategy and role-playing games. If the 121 gram weight of the mouse is not enough, the G502 offers additional weights that make the mouse up to 18 grams heavier.

3. SteelSeries Rival 600: The MMo mouse for PVP

SteelSeries’ Rival 600 is similar to Logitech’s G502. However, the SteelSeries mouse only has seven buttons. That could be a bit too little for one or the other MMO gamer. But that’s not the strength of the Rival 600. It has a dual sensor that, according to the manufacturer, even recognizes a slight lifting of the mouse. And this benefit is especially important for competitive players. Although they are a rarity in online role-playing games, they can certainly be found in player versus player game modes such as the arena in “World of Warcraft”. Nice: The Rival 600 can also be weighed down with weights according to your own taste.

4. Logitech G600: The MMO classic

Anyone who has been traveling through the various fantasy worlds of online role-playing games for a while should be familiar with the Logitech G600. The mouse was one of the first to fully dedicate itself to the needs of MMO gamers. To the chagrin of many gamers, the mouse was unavailable for a few years. What makes the mouse special is its G switch. The key acts as another “modifier” that players know in-game as Shit, ALT, or CTRL. What is that good for?

MMO players usually place their main attacks on the keys around W, A, S and D – i.e. Q, E, R, T, F, Y, X, C and the digits 1 to 5. If the 13 keys are full, they come modifiers to use. Further attacks can be carried out with “Shift” and one of the keys around WSAD. So modifiers are combination keys to multiply. The G600 has its own modifier on board. And that doubles the number of 20 programmable buttons.

5. Corsair Scimitar Elite: The streamer mouse

Manufacturer Corsair advertises its Scimitar Elite with the face of professional “World of Warcraft” streamer Bajheera. And he has good reasons to give up his face for the MMO mouse: 17 programmable buttons should be enough for most gamers. The twelve side buttons can be pushed forwards or backwards. If you have particularly small or large hands, you will be happy about this extra flexibility.

6. Logitech G903 Lightspeed: For all hands

Left-handed people have an extremely difficult time in games. Most controllers and mice are designed for right-handed users, and left-handed modes in games tend to be trashed. But it doesn’t matter (almost) because at least for gaming mice some manufacturers think along and design models that are suitable for both paws. A representative of this guild the Logitech G903 Lightspeed. It offers up to eleven programmable keys. However, gamers should be aware that the left and right sides of the mouse are mirrored. In most cases, gamers can only use seven of the keys effectively. Nice: The mouse is wireless, according to the manufacturer, the battery life is up to 180 hours without lighting (140 with lighting).
