After colliding with an inland waterway vessel, the pleasure craft could be salvaged from the Mittelland Canal near Bramsche (Osnabrück district). The waterway has been free again since Saturday afternoon.

As the head of operations Henning Stricker told the NDR in Lower Saxony, the Mittelland Canal was released again on Saturday afternoon at 3.45 p.m. The boat was salvaged by the water and shipping authority with the help of divers and a hovercraft and is now on the dry dock in the port of Bramsche. According to a police spokesman, the boat and ship collided around noon. The investigators assume that the collision occurred when the unloaded barge was overtaking. The two occupants of the sports boat, a 71-year-old and his 15-year-old son, were able to save themselves on the shore. They were taken to hospital as a precaution, but police said they were otherwise unharmed.
