Ministry of Labor – short-time working extended – economy

The governing federal government has extended the relaxation of the rules for short-time work by three more months until the end of March next year. The cabinet approved a corresponding ordinance from Federal Labor Minister Hubertus Heil (SPD) on Wednesday. This means that there are still fewer barriers to the use of short-time working for companies. They are also financially relieved by the fact that the Federal Employment Agency (BA) reimburses them for half of the social contributions for short-time workers. The reason for the extension of the short-time working rules is the sharp increase in the number of corona infections. It cannot be ruled out that there will now be significant restrictions on the economy again, they say.
