Minister delighted:Truffles found in Franconia
After eight years of experiments, the “Franconian truffle” appears for the first time: An attempt to grow truffles on fallow land has now been crowned with an initial success. Agriculture Minister Michaela Kaniber presented the fungus that was found on a test area of the State Institute for Viticulture and Horticulture (LWG) in Franconia. The CSU politician announced on Sunday that the find was “a real sensation”. Truffle dog “Elli” sniffed the long-awaited object. Five pieces of the Burgundy truffle were discovered. The truffle feels particularly at home in Franconian forests that stand on limestone soils.
