A former manager of the Munich car maker BMW is suspected of corruption. It’s about millions. The Munich public prosecutor’s office is investigating.

The public prosecutor’s office in Munich has charged a former senior BMW employee with embezzlement and commercial bribery in business dealings. The 51-year-old is said to have collected more than 2.4 million euros in bribes from 2007 to 2015 when awarding contracts to management consultants. The managing director of a – meanwhile insolvent – consulting firm was charged with bribery and aiding and abetting embezzlement, as the Higher Regional Court in Munich announced. The “WirtschaftsWoche” had previously reported on it.

Accused reject allegations

In addition, three accused on the side of the consulting company were charged with aiding and abetting. The investigators put the damage to BMW at around 2.7 million euros. All five accused deny the allegations. “An accused has been in custody since mid-December 2021,” said the OLG without further details. The charges were brought back in November. The commercial criminal chamber at the Munich Regional Court now has to decide whether to allow the lawsuits and to open a process.
