Michael Fassbender has become rare on the big screen in recent years. Now the star also revealed the reason for this.

Netflix subscribers can become a Hollywood star Michael Fassbender (46) is currently in David Fincher’s (61) latest film “The Killer”. Before his current appearance as a nameless contract killer, Fassbender had not been seen in film productions for quite some time. The actor has now explained his break from acting with his “obsession” with car racing.

Michael Fassbender built Crash at 24 Hours of Le Mans

As a guest on the British “Graham Norton Show” on Friday, November 24th, the Hollywood mime described his enthusiasm for car racing. “It’s an obsession and it feels so right,” Fassbender said according to the Daily Mail. For him, the races are “not just about the speed, it’s about getting to a point where you don’t think about anything else.”

“I’m totally addicted and want to go back and drive in Le Mans again – that was extraordinary,” he explained on British TV. Fassbender took part in both this year and last year’s legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 2022 he and his team made it to 51st place. This year he crashed and did not complete the race, but fortunately was uninjured in the accident.

Four-year break from acting

Fassbender last appeared in a Hollywood production in 2019. In “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” he played the character Magneto again. The film became a financial disappointment. In addition to his acting return in “The Killer”, Fassbender will also be seen in the comedy “Next Goal Wins” by Oscar winner Taika Waititi (48) at the beginning of next year. The film about one of the worst football teams in the world will be released in cinemas in Germany on January 4, 2024, just in time for the New Year.
