There was no real doubt that the body recovered from the Scheldt on Tuesday January 3 was that of Maxime Pluchard, the Valenciennes student who disappeared at the beginning of December after an evening at a disco. Matching clothes, apartment keys, location close to his home… But justice needs as much certainty as possible, so DNA analyzes were requested.
Weeks of relentless research
Their result fell on Monday: the body recovered from the Scheldt is indeed that of the 24-year-old young man according to the Valenciennes prosecutor’s office, confirming information from the Voice of the North. The investigation is nevertheless continuing its course, in particular to determine the circumstances of the tragedy.
For their part, Maxime’s relatives and family will finally be able to begin their mourning after long weeks of hope, busy returning heaven and earth to find the young man. According to the victim’s grandmother, the burial should take place on Friday.
