Facebook will be 20 years old next year. After the BBC, Sky is now announcing a documentary about founder Mark Zuckerberg.

Sky plans according to “Deadline” a feature-length documentary about Mark Zuckerberg (38). Working titled Zuckerberg: King of the Metaverse, the film is set to chronicle the life of the man who founded Facebook almost 20 years ago. The documentation promises rare archive recordings and exclusive interviews with people from the inner circle of the Meta boss.

Behind “Zuckerberg: King of the Metaverse” is the production company Rogan Productions, which is responsible for the Netflix documentary “My Daughter’s Killer”, for example. Directed by Nick Green, who has covered history from ancient Rome to “Putin’s Russia.”

The Zuckerberg portrait is initially broadcast on Sky Documentaries. A broadcast date is not yet known. Whether and when the film will also be shown in Germany is also still open.

Several documentaries planned for the Facebook anniversary

In 2004, Mark Zuckerberg set up the social network Facebook with three fellow students from Harvard. The head of the Facebook parent company Meta is currently trying to advance the metaverse, i.e. the networking of the digital and analog world.

As the groundbreaking social network marks its 20th anniversary, Sky Documentaries isn’t the only one working on a film about Mark Zuckerberg. Six months ago, the BBC published a three-part documentary series with the simple (working) title “Sugar Mountain” announced.

2010’s “The Social Network” by David Fincher (“Fight Club”) fictionally covered the origins and wild days of Facebook.
